Greetings Everyone: Our Black History Production will take place on Friday February 24, 2023. The theme this year is "Bronzeville: The Black Metropolis of Chicago a Progressive Movement". 

The focus is to showcase the "Identity and Culture" that developed the Bronzeville Community. Therefore, each class is being asked to select from the following topics to present as a performance by way of : dance, song, poetry , a skit, digital presentation, ect.

Bronzeville Topics: 

  • The Regal (The Regal was a theatre that had the reputation similar to the Apollo.
  • The students portray some of the great performing artists that appeared at the Regal. They can Lip Sync or 
  • Say a poem by a famous artist that influenced this community.


Mecca for Civil Rights
  • Art Galleries
  • Libraries
  • Victorian - architecture and 19th -centtury Mansions
  • Prominent Residence :  Richard Wright, Louis Armstrong, Bessis Coleman, Ida B. Wells, Andrew Foster( - Founder of the Negro League), Nat King Cole, Mahalia Jackson, Thomas A. Dorsey, King Oliver, ect.
  • The Great Migration
  • The Landmarks of Bronzeville
  • The Newspapers that were out of Bronzeville( The Chicago Bee and The Defender
  • Black Journalism
  • Cafe's  Dreamland Cafe and Royal Gardens
  • Financial Institutions
  • Urban League
  • DuSable Museum
  • Binga Bank (The Wall Street of the Southside"
  • Cab Company 
  • Known for High Fashion
  • Famous Churches ( Olivet Baptist Church and Pilgrim Baptist Church)
  • Oscar DePriest first African American Alderman (Office on 3140 S. Indiana
